Preparing to BECOME

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

On Sunday we considered our place as a whole church in the whole renewal God is doing in the world. Missional Renewal — the capstone message of the RENEW series — in many ways gives rise to our next series, BECOME.

For the next two months we will focus on God’s work and our response in becoming the people and church He created us to be. I cannot tell you how excited your church leaders are to join your on this journey, a revolution of our souls.

Here’s how you can join the revolution:

  1. Re-connect with your Community Group or join one!
  2. Get the book Uprising (a helpful resource for growing deeper). Follow the link for more about the book and the best online price for paperback or Kindle versions. Get a copy ASAP! A limited quantity of paperback copies will also be available for $15 in the WCC Lobby after each service the next Sunday (9/18). Any way you buy it, be sure to grab a series bookmark in the Lobby, a guide for our weekly readings.
  3. Worship together each Sunday as we explore six key themes asking God to grow our character and make us like Him. Fall is a great time to invite a neighbor, co-worker, family, or friend.

The themes of BECOME:

  • 9/18 » GRATITUDE {then read ch. 6 in Uprising}
  • 9/25 » HUMILITY {read ch. 3}
  • 10/2 » INTEGRITY {read ch. 4}
  • 10/9 » global mission focus {we welcome Charles Buregeya of Africa New Life}
  • 10/16 » WHOLENESS {read ch. 7}
  • 10/23 » GENEROSITY {read ch. 8}
  • 10/30 » COURAGE {read ch. 5}

Uprising is suggested reading for following the teaching themes and intentionally responded to God’s work for us and in us. While not required reading, those taking up the challenge will ‘cross-train’ through the book, reading some of the chapters in a non-sequential order.

Be sure to grab a series bookmark, and over the next two months follow along with the readings and reflection questions posted weekly at willamettegroups.com.

We need your help!

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

Our church is growing, and with it, our need for volunteers!  We currently need additional people to serve in these areas: building hosts, setup for Sunday Night Service, teardown for Sunday Night Service, security, stagehands, outdoor landscaping, greeters, and kitchen team volunteers.

If you are interested in learning more about serving in any of these areas, please contact Rhonda Johnson.

Also, with the growth in attendance, our Children’s Ministry is growing!  If you love children and are interested in serving as a teacher or teaching assistant, please let Pastor Robben know!

Promotion Sunday

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

This Sunday is Promotion Sunday, as kids move from their current classrooms to their new ones based on the grade they will enter in the fall.  Students will begin in their current classroom, then parents will pick them up in their new classrooms after they celebrate their graduation to a new grade. Teachers will give parents a handout with pickup locations.

On May 18 we had an amazing, intimate evening worshiping God together. “Stunningly beautiful” is how one person tweeted to describe the night. Check out some photos from the event… and if you missed it, be sure to come to the next one this fall!

Our Giving page has a new look!

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

Our online giving page has changed, reflecting one of the first steps (along with a new children’s check-in system upstairs) in our rollout of a program called Fellowship One.  Fellowship One is a church management system used by hundreds of the largest churches in the country, which integrates online giving and event registration, payment & check-in and many other functions.

Fellowship One uses state of the art technology to ensure the safety of your online donations.  You’ll be asked to create an account the first time you contribute through the new system.  Once we match the information you provide with what’s already in our system, you’ll be able to log in with just your email address and the password you set.  Then, each time you’re logged in, you’ll not only be able to make a donation, but will also see a statement with all of the contributions you’ve made this year.   Learn more about our new online giving process here.
