Those who don’t live at the top of the hill in West Linn might have wondered at our wimpiness in closing our building for much of Monday evening through Wednesday morning. Please trust us when we say that you didn’t want to brave the icy roads leading up to the church – the cars and buses littering the ditches were a testament to that!
Snow doesn’t phase us, but we’ll close whenever the roads or our parking lot are too icy for you to get here safely. On Tuesday, the wet snow was coming down too quickly to clear it so we could reach the ice below to deal with it. Enjoy the pictures from earlier this week as we move back into our typical winter rain…

The area meteorologists are feeling vindicated, since they certainly got the forecast right this time! It appears as though the roads around the church will become progressively icier as temperatures drop this evening. To ensure the safety of our staff and guests, our office is closed as of 5pm this afternoon (Thursday), and through at least 10am tomorrow. All evening and early morning events are canceled. We’ll update the website and phone system as conditions change.

Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful ministry run by Samaritain’s Purse. The idea is simple: Pack a shoebox for a child in need. It may not seem like much to us, but to children who have practically nothing, these shoeboxes are the highlight of their year, for some the highlight of their lifetime. Check out the video below for information. We’ll collect shoebox gifts from October 23 through November 14 in the WCC lobby. Give generously this year!
